Surrey Model - A Council for Voluntary Service with integrated Volunteer Centre

Network and Partners Preparing for Volunteer Recruitment

Most members of the Surrey CVS Network are Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) organisations with integrated Volunteer Centres. While the CVS side of each organisation will mean subscribing to the standards of service set by NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) - each Volunteer Centre is a member of Volunteering England and subscribes to minimum standards of service delivery as set out in the Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation System.

The Benefits of a Volunteer Centre

Volunteer Centres provide support at a local level for individual volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. The six core functions of a Volunteer Centre are:

  • Develop Volunteering Opportunities
  • Brokerage
  • Marketing Volunteering
  • Good Practice Development
         -  Providing Information, Training and Research into Volunteering
  • Commenting/Policy response and Campaigning on Volunteering
  • Strategic Development of Volunteering
